Medical Business Office Assistant – General & Specialty Cardiology

Since its creation, Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has contracted with Pulse Heart Institute for outpatient cardiology and billing services. CSC is a proud partner of MultiCare and has provided outpatient cardiology services in the Puget Sound Region for over 50 years. CSC partnered with MultiCare Health System to create Pulse Heart Institute in 2016 to work toward improving the health of cardiac patients.

Environment and Shift Details  

• Location:  1901 South Cedar Street, Tacoma, WA 98406
• Schedule:  Full-time, Monday – Friday (closed weekends and holidays)

Position Summary

The Medical Business Office Assistant plays a vital role in the daily operations of our business office by assisting with various administrative and billing-related tasks. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, is highly organized, and has strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities  

• Sort and distribute faxes and mail to the appropriate departments.

• Efficiently manage daily tasks and workload, focusing on high-priority billing activities. 

• Generate patient estimates for self-insured and non-contracted insurance patients.

• Process insurance claim forms, ensuring accuracy in billing submissions.

• Match Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) with claims and prepare them for mailing.

• Apply physician stamp signatures to required forms for remote billing staff.

• Provide backup support for the main phone line in bookkeeping or front desk, as needed

• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA regulations.

 Qualifications 

• Education : High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) 

• Experience : 1 year of experience in healthcare or 1 year of experience in a medical office is required.

• Knowledge of medical billing practices, including ICD-10 and CPT coding and EMR systems.

• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and staff. 

• Excellent organizational abilities, including proficient time management and multitasking. 

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness. 

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. 

• Mathematical aptitude for handling estimates, payments, and reconciliations.

Pay and Benefit Expectations  

Cardiac Study Center/Pulse Heart Institute provides a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, and retirement benefits, and paid time off. As various pay transparency laws require, CSC/PHI shares a competitive compensation range for candidates hired into each position. The starting pay for this position is $22.25 , and the pay scale is $22.25- $33.10USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
