Job Description and Duties

The Information Technology Infrastructure Services has an immediate opening for an Information Technology Manager I to manage the team.

This position will manage IT Infrastructure Services to achieve corporate and program objectives through the effective and efficient use of available resources

- Manage (plan, organize, direct and control) the operations of the unit responsible for Network,Telecom, and 

Data Center support for Vacaville and Riverside.

- Recruit, hire and train subordinate staff

- Participate in department and organization wide committees to promote consistent information security standards and best practice

- Collaborate with and support the Program Manager on budgeting and project initiatives that involve, but may not be limited to IT, HR, and Finance administrative functions including analyzing documentation

- Foster and maintain a work environment free of discrimination and harassment, according to State Fund’s corporate policies and procedures

- Create an environment that empowers and supports others in the change process

- Motivate and lead the team

- Model high performing team behavior, strong communication, governance, and compliance conduct

Basic Qualifications:

•       Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or other technical field preferred

•       Experience with network infrastructure in an operations or implementation environment

•       Experience managing a Network Team

•       Experience implementing and supporting Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)

•       Experience with knowledge of Cisco router, firewall, switch installation, configuration, and operation

•       Experience using and managing network monitoring systems like Nagios, InterMapper, Ansible, Network Monitoring, Thousand Eyes

•       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•       Extensive experience in the network communications field troubleshooting LAN / WAN, Carrier, Wireless and Security infrastructures

•       Experience with highly virtualized environment utilizing networked storage and cloud computing

•       Experience with packet capture and analysis products such as Wireshark and Thousand Eyes

•       Deep knowledge of the following vendors and technologies - Cisco (ICE), Palo Alto Network, Websense Proxy, Cisco ACE and F5 Server load balancing and global server load balancing (SLB/GSLB), Split Tunneling, IP routing and switching concepts/protocols/standards: IPv6, STP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLAN, VSS, VDC, PBR, VRFs, TCPIP, VOIP, IPSec, DNS, VPN, IPS/IDS

•       Experience troubleshooting Cisco Router and Switch hardware platforms, Palo Alto Firewalls, Websense Proxy, F5 Load-Balancers

•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•       Experience developing and negotiating contracts and service agreements

•       Experience with supporting an IT Change Control process

•       Experience with Disaster Recovery – planning, implementation and maintenance

•       Experience with industry standard monitoring and remote management solutions

•       Proficiency with network configuration management systems

•       Project management and the ability to meet defined deadlines

•       Working knowledge of wireless, VOIP, security technologies and video conferencing systems

•       Strong technical leadership, organizational and motivational skills

Preferred Qualifications

•       Strong knowledge of NAC and dot1x deployments, configurations, and best practices

•       Familiarity with ITIL service standards and PCI preferred

•       CCNA, CCNP, PMP, ITILv4 Certification preferred

•       Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions a plus


New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
