ADA Accessibility Compliance Tester to support the California Secretary of State's CAL-ACCESS Replacement System (CARS) Project. The consultant will be responsible for developing and executing accessibility compliance assessment and testing services aligned with WCAG 2.2, Section 508, California AB 434, and other relevant ADA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive Accessibility Compliance Testing Approach document.
Analyze CARS technical documentation and design specifications to assess accessibility compliance.
Conduct accessibility testing on web applications, mobile interfaces, and documents (Word, Excel, PDF) using tools such as JAWS, NVDA, AXE, WAVE, and Color Contrast Analyzer.
Log and track non-compliance findings in Azure DevOps, retest upon remediation, and update records.
Provide detailed accessibility compliance reports for each program increment and a final report prior to system acceptance.
Collaborate with project stakeholders, attend regular meetings, and submit weekly status reports.
Recommend remediation strategies and ensure documentation is accessible and inclusive.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of software application testing experience.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in accessibility/usability/inclusive design, including in-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.2 (09/2022) and Section 508.
3 years of experience testing on both mobile and desktop platforms across various browsers.
3 years of testing electronic document formats (Word, Excel, PDF) for accessibility compliance.
3 years of experience with assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, AXE, WAVE, NVDA, Adobe Acrobat, speech recognition software).
2 years of experience documenting accessibility issues and remediation recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of HTML semantics, ARIA, and modern web development accessibility practices.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (year-for-year substitution).
Desirable Qualifications:
Certified DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC, or equivalent accessibility certification.
Minimum 2 years working in Agile or Hybrid Agile environments with accessibility embedded throughout the SDLC.
